My last day!

Today was my last day at work. My coworkers (both New Orleans and Baton Rouge) made it a very special and heartwarming day. We had delicious Mexican cuisine for lunch, there were presents, cards, and a cake too. I was very touched and so surprised because I was not expecting anything. Yesterday, I received yellow roses and a beautiful card from my New Orleans supervisor because she was scheduled to be off today. There were tears both yesterday and today, but for many different reasons. I always knew I would leave State Civil Service; however, I wanted it to be on my terms, not the terms of a killer hurricane. Our time together ended so abruptly, it breaks my heart to know I will not have the chance the visit my New Orleans coworkers in our own office. So much has changed in our lives and we were just not ready for the changes. I do plan to keep in touch with them because they are more than coworkers, they are my friends as well. They told me I would be missed, but it is I who will miss them so very much.
