Update!
Hi everyone! Thanks so much for continuing to visit although I've been a bit absent for the last couple of weeks. I do apologize, but life has been hectic lately. Currently, I'm commuting to my agency's Baton Rouge offce to work, which translates to driving 164 miles/day, Mon - Fri. (My New Orleans office was damaged during Katrina and there are no plans to return to that building.) I was notified last night that this can only continue for a total of 30 days and I have two weeks left; therefore, I have no idea whether I will have a job in two weeks. Oh joy! When asked what will happen at the end of the two weeks, I was told "We don't know. We'll know more in two weeks." HUH? Geez, thanks a lot for calming my nerves people! I can't commute and be reimbursed for travel more than a total of 30 days, meaning I have two weeks left, so if I don't commute on my own dime, what am I supposed to do? They (the managers) tell me they will not know until two weeks. Is anyone else seeing this as a stall? State workers in Louisiana are facing some major cuts due to reasons well beyond our control. My office tells me not to worry, tells me I'm only good for communting for two more weeks, ask if I'm open to transferring to the Baton Rouge office, and when I say that is not an option for me because of my son, no further answers are available for another two weeks, which is the end of my commuting authorization, so tell me again why I'm NOT to worry!! Hmmm.... there is something stinky 'round here and it ain't the garbage on the curbs!
I'll keep you all posted on how this turns out, but in the meantime, I'm dusting off my resume and polishing it up a bit!
Take care and don't forget about New Orleans. We're on the way back! We love you all and hope to see you roaming our streets again soon. You can now have Cafe au Lait and Beignets again because Cafe du Monde has reopened! YAAAY!
